Gauteng school applications close today

Gauteng Education staff have taken to the streets to encourage the Orange Farm community to apply for Grade 1 and 8 online admissions for the 2023 school year. Parents and carers are urged to do so as time is running out. Earlier this year, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) experienced some technical issues due to its online system not being able to process a large number of applications at the same time.

The department then confirmed that its system was working well at the time, and parents were then invited to submit online applications for next year’s admissions.

Recently, in a statement, the department confirmed that after the opening of the admissions portal on 22 July 2022, it will be closed:

The online admission system will be closed on 19 August 2022 at midnight.
Education staff visited Orange Farm and encouraged the community to register early for grades 1 and 8 before the application deadline at midnight tonight.

GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona said parents and carers who want to apply for other grades should go directly to their chosen school to apply.

Parents and carers can log on to the department’s admissions website to complete the application. Create a username and password, then register their information. The system then guides the applicant through five steps to submit the application.

It is important to use the correct details as offers of placement will be sent to the mobile phone number where the parent/guardian has registered from 3 October 2022 to 30 November 2022. Parents also have the option to check the status of the student’s application after logging in. their profile.
